Acadia Star Party
October 7 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

On Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 7pm, join Charlie Sawyer, seasoned astronomer and president of Downeast Amateur Astronomers Club, for an Acadia Star Party at Schoodic Institute!
Join us to view the stars of the Maine autumn sky. We will see the constellations of the fall and the planets – Jupiter with its moons, Saturn and the rings, as well as distant objects through a telescope including a galaxy beyond our own Milky Way.
This event will begin in Moore Auditorium on the Schoodic Institute campus at 7pm, and doors will open at 6pm to get settled. Tickets cost $25.00/person or $50.00/family of up to four. Please bring your own outdoor chair and dress warm! This event begins indoors and will move outdoors to view the night sky.
Charlie Sawyer has 45 years experience with astronomical activities and projects, including his work as owner and operator of the Sawyer Observatory (in Pembroke, Maine – formerly called Downeast Observatory). His Double Star observations have been published in Sky Publishing’s book, “Double Stars for Small Telescopes,” and he was a co-discoverer of four supernova. Sawyer is an astro photographer and founder of the Maine State Star Party, and he works as a Night Sky Boat Tour Astronomer for Linda Greenlaw Charters.
