Artist Workshop: Capture the Beauty of Acadia – Plein Air Painting with Kevin Beers
September 25 - September 29
Join artist Kevin Beers for this fall retreat in Acadia. The workshop will be open to all levels of skill and experience. Kevin will talk about how to organize and design your composition and how to mix colors to match what you see. You will sharpen your painting skills, again training your eyes to see more clearly. For the more advanced, you will dig deeper on those aspects and also talk about what it is that you want to capture and express. Kevin will talk about various artists to address those issues and to find inspiration.
All levels of experience are welcome.
When Kevin Beers was in art school, abstraction was all the rage, and although Beers was clearly in possession of great talent, his professors constantly tried to dissuade him from representational painting. Instead, listening to his own muse, Beers was drawn to the powerful realism of Edward Hopper, Rockwell Kent, and George Bellows, all of whom had fallen in love with the coast of Maine, especially Monhegan Island.
This year’s workshop will begin on Sunday, September 25 at 3:00 PM and will end on Thursday, September 29 at 4:00 PM.
The Commuter Package for $650.00 includes instruction, studio time, and the following meals: lobster dinner on September 25, and bag lunch on September 26 – 28.
The Residential Package for $1150.00 includes everything in the Commuter Package, plus: four nights lodging, September 25 – 28; breakfast and dinner, September 26 – 28; and breakfast on September 29.
