Birds, Bugs, Birches, and Barnacles!
August 20, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Do you love exploring nature, observing the details, and learning more about the world around you? Then our BioBlitz is just for you. It’s an Acadia National Park treasure hunt for science, and we need your help!
Bring yourself, friends, family, and a phone, tablet, or camera to Schoodic Institute on August 20, 2022 from 9:30am – 12pm as we explore the biodiversity on our campus. We will work in small groups, each with a staff guide, to observe what is around us – from birds to bugs and birches to barnacles. We will work together to record as many species as possible using iNaturalist, a free app that makes it easy to share observations of biodiversity.
After the morning’s field effort, all registered participants are invited to a celebratory picnic on campus. We’ll share our sightings from the day while we talk about more ways to stay connected and how to continue contributing to the efforts of monitoring biodiversity in Acadia National Park.
Join us for this great opportunity to play, learn, and connect with nature, science, and your community.
No prior experience is necessary.
Registration for this event is now closed. Thank you for your interest.
