Maine Master Naturalist Tracy Haskell has designed this three-day conference for those wanting to explore all aspects of creating and keeping a nature journal. Jill Osgood will deliver a keynote talk on Friday evening titled Observing Nature: Recordings and Reflections on Walks in the Woods. On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, participants can select from a variety of workshops and outdoor excursions:
Learn the Grinnell Method of scientific note-taking with Donna Long.
Walk and watch for birds with Rich MacDonald.
Map your stories with Andrea Lani.
Take a hike.
Sharpen your writing skills with Kim Ridley.
Sketch nature with ink and watercolor under the guidance of Jean MacKay.
Enjoy a lobster bake feast followed by a campfire and night sky viewing.
Enhance your powers of observation with Laurie Murray.
Go tide-pooling with Jessie Muhlin.
Take photographs as notes with Alison Dibble.
Communicate science and turn journal notes into published work with Catherine Schmitt.
Should You Need to Cancel Your Event Registration
There is a $35 processing fee for any cancellation made 15 days or more prior to the event date. No refunds will be given for cancellations within 14 days of the event date.
