Lucy is the crew leader for the joint Northeast Temperate Network (NETN) and Mid-Atlantic Network (MIDN) forest health monitoring crew. Lucy has worked in partnership with the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Division since 2022 conducting forest health research. Her work involves visiting National Park sites across 10 different states to collect data in permanent forest plots, which serves to track changes in ecosystem health, and inform park managers on the most up-to-date conditions of their forests.
Her favorite aspect of her role is getting to work in a wide range of forest types, from the dense spruce forests of Acadia to the impressively large oaks and tulip poplars in the historical parks of Virginia.
Lucy graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a degree in Conservation Biology. She currently resides in central Vermont, and when she’s not working she enjoys drawing, hiking, and supporting her local music and arts scene.
