Nolan Altvater (They/Them) is a Passamaquoddy Citizen from Sipayik and an Interdisciplinary Studies PhD Student at the University of Maine. Their work involves mobilizing Indigenous Research Methodologies for the building of frameworks, infrastructure, and strategic agreements that help support ethical relations with Wabanaki Cultural and Intellectual Property.
Within Acadia National Park, this work is supporting an emergent shared governance approach for the restoration of a culturally important species and spaces. Alongside their research, Altvater is an interdisciplinary artist who works across the mediums of digital and film photography
