Laura is an Environmental Educator for the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) program, a multi-day, outdoor education program for local middle school students. She enjoys the challenge of teaching a wide variety of STEM topics, especially citizen science research, in a non-traditional environment. Laura also considers it a privilege to work alongside and, more importantly, learn from other educators who come from a diversity of ages and backgrounds.
Born in Wisconsin, Laura earned a B.S. in Biology from the College of Charleston. Her previous jobs include homeschooling her two daughters, seven years of experience in higher education (teaching, tutoring, managing a makerspace, and administration), five years of after-school tutoring of elementary through high school students, and even several years of marine mammal training and wild dolphin research in both Florida and South Carolina!
Laura loves everything about the ocean and its creatures, from tide pooling to marine mammal watching. In their time off together, Laura and her husband, Jeff, like to hike and canoe, and any extra minute that they are not enjoying the beautiful outdoors here in Maine, they are busy renovating their home in Steuben.
