Jamie Attanasio

Jamie Attanasio is the Forest Monitoring Crew Leader and has been working for Schoodic Institute since 2020. This position works in collaboration with the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Division Northeast Temperate Network (NETN), Mid-Atlantic Network (MIDN), and Northeast Coastal Barrier Network (NCBN). The crew monitors forest health in 23 National Parks ranging from Virginia to Maine. The purpose of the forest crew is to make sure the park’s natural resource managers have the most up to date information on what’s occurring in their forests. This involves collecting data on metrics like deer browse, invasive plants, investive pests, pathogens, and more.

Jamie graduated from Colby College in 2020 with a double major in Biology and Environmental Science. She was also active in Colby’s Woodsmen’s Team, competing internationally in different lumberjack events. Her hobbies include chopping wood, playing the guitar, crocheting granny squares, and foraging for snacks.
