Natalia Portales

As Data Visualization Specialist, Natalia supports data management, analysis, and communication at Schoodic Institute. She leads a project compiling data and developing a data visualization platform for data associated with the Great Meadow habitat restoration in Acadia National Park. This project will make Great Meadow data and information more accessible to park managers, partners, and visitors. In her role, she works closely with the Climate Change Adaptation Scientist and Data Analyst.

Natalia started working for Schoodic Institute as an Ecology Field Technician during the 2024 field season and continued working for the organization as an Ecology Data Technician prior to her current role as Data Visualization Specialist. Natalia graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology and Zoology and a minor in Spanish from Michigan State University (MSU).

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Natalia calls the Great Lakes home. She grew up visiting the lakes where her love for nature, the environment, and conservation grew. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends!
