Our work is only possible because of many early-career professionals. These current students and recent college graduates come to Schoodic Institute to hone their skills, establish themselves in the conservation field, and build a network of professional contacts as well as a community of their peers. This year, we welcome eight new early-career professionals to join our team as researchers, educators, and science communicators. This cohort of conservation champions will serve as seasonal interns, technicians, and fellows as they work towards advancing field research, storytelling, and gaining experience in conservation.
They will collectively work on more than twenty projects across all terrains in Acadia, from windy summits to dynamic intertidal zones, and even beyond the park bounds to support science across Maine. Working both independently and in teams—sometimes with volunteers—they will gather valuable data throughout the summer. You can follow along with their adventures on our Facebook and Instagram, as well as through our web stories and monthly eNewsletter.
The early-career crew will be busy this summer with data collection, discovery, and sharing their experiences in Acadia. Look out for updates through the weekly #FieldWorkFriday social media post, and keep an eye out for our high-visibility vests in the park when you visit.
